State Offender Registry Links
Public access to information about sex offenders in the United States is the result of (1) the Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act, (2) the Pam Lychner Sexual Offender Tracking and Identification Act and (3) Megan's Law, which require states to release relevant information about registered sex offenders to protect the public.
Each state differs in terms of how it administers its community notification process. On-line access to varying degrees is offered by all states except Hawaii, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio and Washington. For these states, the link we have provided is to the state attorney general.
